We’ve received an official statement from LightSpeed regarding Mountain Lion compatibility. They claim that LightSpeed 3.6 is currently compatible with 10.8 Mountain Lion and make some good points about upgrade subscriptions and backups.
Step 1) Backup – Perform a manual backup of your LightSpeed data. Login to LightSpeed with administrative privileges and go to the Tools menu -> Utilities -> Backup. Click the button to perform a manual backup and wait for it to complete.
Step 2) Upgrade LightSpeed to 3.6 – Actually, I’d upgrade it to the most recent version (currently 3.6.8 as of this post). Check your expiry date first by going to the LightSpeed Server control panel under the Apple menu in System Preferences. If your LightSpeed server has expired, call us at 905-337-5923 to get your subscription renewed ASAP.
Step 3) Backup Again – Repeat step 1.
Step 4) Upgrade to Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion – Perform your OS update as you normally would.
Step 5) Login to LightSpeed and you’re done!
Again, I’ve not personally tested this at this point… nor have I tested our standard peripherals such as receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers or label printers.
More updates to come.
