Updating Your Email Program When We Switch To Our New Server

We’re upgrading and moving our web/email server soon. Here’s what you need to know if you host with us.

As you may already know, we are upgrading our server again and in doing so we’ll be moving to an entirely new server at a new location. It is very important that if you host your email with us, you must modify your email settings once this occurs or you will not be able to send or receive emails.

The new server details are as follows…

Incoming Email Server (POP/IMAP): server.kristingreen.ca

Outgoing Email Server (SMTP): server.kristingreen.ca

It’s important to make these changes AFTER we switch and NOT BEFORE. You’ll be getting an email from us with a date and time so wait for that before making any changes.

Here are step-by-step instructions for performing the change in the Apple Mail.app email program. Other programs may differ slightly but in the end, the information is always the same so use this as a guide.

Step 1) Open the Mail preferences in your email program.

Step 2) Once you’ve opened the preferences window, be sure to choose the ‘Accounts’ option at the top so that you’re looking at the list of email accounts that your mail program has been configured to check. (There may be more than one in the list on the left side so be sure to select the account that is hosted on our server… you may have to make these changes on multiple accounts) Your ‘Incoming Mail Server’ will likely be set to www.greenapplesolutions.net… you’ll need to change that.

Step 3) Change your 'Incoming Mail Server' to mail.kristingreen.ca OR mail.yourdomain.com if you've paid for your own SSL security certificate. Contact our office if you're not sure of if you want to get one. Without it, you're sharing a common mail server name with the majority of our clients.

Step 4) Open the SMTP server settings by clicking on the drop down menu next to 'Outgoing Mail Server'. Choose to edit the list so we can make some changes.

Step 5) You’ll likely notice that it says www.greenapplesolutions.net here. If it doesn’t, find it in the list in the top part of this window and select it before making any changes. You may have other servers listed here if you have other email accounts and it’s important to select the correct one.

Step 6) Change the Description and the Server Name to server.kristingreen.ca  Again, if you have SSL, you may use your own domain (such as mail.yourdomain.com).

Step 7) Switch over to the 'Advanced' tab and make sure that your settings match those above.
